This is a favorite activity right now. It's the first time we have used a magnifying glass. The activity is to match the stones and then use the magnifying glass to study the similarities and differences.
I love this idea and I've just gotten some rocks to do it with but I've had trouble locating different trays besides ice cube trays. Where did you get yours and what other trays do you use? I know that some use painting trays/palates and I'm going to get one of those soon but what other trays do you suggest?
I got this one at the dollar store. It was part of some kind of IQ game with little colored beads, It works. You just have to keep your eye out as you browse.
I am a stay at home mom of four boys and a little girl all under the age of five. I also teach Preschool from my home. I plan to homeschool my children. Even though they are not to the school age yet, I think it is important to start nurturing those little minds early on! My blog is called "Little Hands, Big Work" because every time a little hand starts playing they are really learning and working. Playing becomes learning and learning becomes growing, and isn't that what life is all about? I plan to post about activities, food, organization, parenting tips and more for the baby to 5 crowd.
I earned my Associates degree with most of my classes being in early childhood education. I was a preschool teacher for 3 1/2 years before I left to be a stay at home Mom and I have been loving it!
